The history of the factory dates back to the late 50s, when the ambitious and purposeful Dino Gavino, who worked in the field of furniture creation in collaboration with such famous Italian architects as the Castiglioni brothers, Tobia and Carlo Scarpa, Ignazio Gardella (Gardella), set on fire with the idea of producing new Italian lamps. The meeting with Arturo Eisenkeil brought the first fruits - the emergence of a new revolutionary technology: spraying resin on the metal frame of a chandelier. So the Cocoon lamp (cocoon) appeared. The thin translucent matte material let in the light coming from inside the lamp and resembled a luminous cloud.
Thus began the path of experiments and new developments. Ideas in the field of light were embodied in fantastic light objects. The brothers Achille and Giacomo Castiglioni joined in the generation of new ideas, from which the most famous designer floor lamp, Arco, later appeared. The floor lamp, throughout its history, has been and remains a favorite object of copying. By the way, the very name of the factory - "FLOS" - came up with Giacomo.
