The Coronado project represents one of the highlights of Afra and Tobia Scarpa's research. At the heart of the project is a proposal to combine an iron frame with the revolutionary cold molding technology of polyurethane that was introduced by B&B Italia into the furniture industry. This is one of the most interesting examples of 360 ° design. In addition to the internal innovations that Coronado represented in terms of design, materials and technology, the design also took into account the optimization of processing times and the company's international focus. The project consisted of four structural units (fastened with just two screws), which ensured the separate execution of processing operations. At the same time, an additional advantage was the possibility of storing dismantled elements and their shipment anywhere in the world. The design of the product, or its aesthetics, was the factor that brought it success: proportional dimensions, an anti-traditional image, devoid of the heavy lines that were fashionable at that time. Coronado was born as a link between furniture in different styles and a growing desire for novelty, thus meeting the expectations of the bourgeoisie of the time. Coronado today is a sofa with enduring tradition and design, a true symbol of relaxation. The comfort of the product is guaranteed by the springiness achieved by the spring steel strips, which are located in the back frame. In addition to a sofa and an armchair, the collection also includes a high armchair with an original pouf.Specifications
