Description
"Very often, design is made up of details," says Antonio Citterio, "especially in upholstered furniture, where design has become a matter of receptivity." Harry's name is associated with the great designer Harry Bertoya and expresses Antonio Citterio's desire to always refer to the great masters of the past when choosing names for his future projects. This sofa opened a new path for the industry, highlighting the seeming simplicity of the formal aspect and becoming recognizable thanks to the leg. connected was born in 1995 precisely as a result of a change in one detail. But let the designer tell this story. “Harry came into being after a series of products related to tradition. I was pretty sure that series of sofas didn't work because it lacked something, that click, that would give it a modern character. It's important to say this because, even if no one knows about it, Harry is the same piece with one changed detail: the aluminum leg. This minor detail brought the lightness that allowed the transformation of a traditional piece into a completely modern piece. This was enough to bring him success. However, it was also a proof of the balance between the project and its industrial development, between the designer and the B&B Italia Research and Development Center. My drawings are almost simple sketches that express an idea, everything else I entrust to the story, the dialogue with the Research and Development Center. "Specifications
