Description

Statue-like, powerful and unexpected Blitz table is Mario Bellini's new amazing project for B&B Italia. The flat, slender geometric outer frame finds its natural complement in the curved, undulating shapes of the interior, revealing aesthetics and design reminiscent of a suspension bridge. We chose bamboo for the frame because of its lightness and quick growth. This wood is versatile and possesses special properties, refined by an elegant solid processing. Its use for interiors is unexpected and unusual, however, it matches and once again emphasizes the traditional quality of B&B Italia materials. The result is a piece that is a unique combination of design, design and cabinetmaker craftsmanship. The natural pattern of bamboo is visible on the outside of the table, emphasizing quality, attention and precision, with which each wooden module of the product was processed. The surface pattern contrasts with the interior of the table, which is made of soft shellac-effect material. This solution creates amazing visuals on a flat surface that appears to float over curved shadows. The table top, three meters long and 95 centimeters deep, folds at the ends like origami, turning into a support that tapers and folds back to rest on the floor. Numerous applied technological solutions guarantee incredible strength despite the apparent lightness. Blitz is not monolithic, but consists of several elements to facilitate transportation and entry into any room. It can be used as a dining table or as a work table in a prestigious office, and also as a reception desk in a large stately room. With Blitz, the space becomes like a theater, a place rich in stories and expectations, a world of applied technology, craftsmanship, rich sensory experiences and powerful experiences.
