A sofa, a variable landscape made up of elementary shapes in dynamic relationship with each other. Patricia Urquiola deconstructs the classic sofa, redesigns it starting from a synthesis of surface. Essentiality, definition, dynamism and transformation thus become the trait d’union that unites formally separate elements: seat, backrest, armrests are modules to be coordinated, combined, reconfigured indefinitely. The designer, in 2000, anticipates what today is taken for granted, designing in the future a system that becomes a single body, a project that goes beyond modularity as a function for maximum compositional freedom dedicated to comfort and elegance. Born from the desire to break free from the angular and cubic lines typical of modern sofas, Josephine is characterized by rounded and sinuous shapes that give life to the armrests and back, three distinct pieces that embrace the seat like the petals the corolla of a flower. The proportions are gentle, further lightened by the seat visibly raised from the ground. A product balanced in its proportions that evokes its femininity from its name, a deliberate reference to Joséphine Baker, an emancipated character and icon of provocation in the 1930s, known for her African-American beauty, but also for her marked irony and her transformism. The stylistic signature of the Heartbreaker sofas is in the design of the armrest, which represents half of a heart, or a broken heart, which is playfully reassembled in the combinations of sofas placed side by side. Hence the name, which playfully speaks of a broken heart or ironically alludes to a "heartbreaker". The Heartbreaker sofa collection was designed as a contract system: the sofa project combines pure volumes and simple geometric shapes with extreme comfort, making the product, designed for intensive use, also suitable for domestic use. A second element that strongly characterizes the product is the metal profile at the base, available in different finishes, which visually allows you to lift and lighten the important presence of the sofa above, giving it kindness and personality, as if to indicate the signature of the Danish designer for Moroso. |

The Gogan collection owes its name to nature and in particular to the Japanese stones smoothed by time and water, which were a source of inspiration for this project. This is the name of the Japanese stones placed on the banks of rivers and lakes to protect and embellish the banks. The shapes of the sofa, as well as those of the armchair, are reminiscent of soft stones sculpted by the wind and water, massive but at the same time soft, on which to rest. As in the stone sculptures, where the stones are balanced by virtue of the joints and position, in the sofa and in the Gogan armchair the balance between the elements is given by the shape, not too regular: thanks to a play of gravity and balances, shapes that should be heavy can be light. The seats are soft and irregular and the seat structure is slightly inclined towards the rear; this gives the pieces of the collection extreme comfort and allows to keep the backrest lower. Back and seat are joined by buttresses that give an idea of lightness. |

The Gemma collection has evolved around the idea of contrast and the experience that comes from the perception of a shape. The sharp asymmetry of its three-dimensional geometry contrasts with the softness of its padding. Its faceted profile evokes both a precious stone and the typical compositions of Italian tapestries of the fifteenth century. The collection is representative of the synergy between the complex geometries of Libeskind and the well-known know-how of Moroso. Libeskind was deeply inspired by natural geological forms: crystals, gems, natural rock formations. An intuition derived fr om the language of carpentry is the distinctive feature of a new modular system for its formal construction and innovative for its compositional flexibility. If from a literal point of view the term chamfer indicates a bevel created with the 45 ° cut of a right angle, in the sofa it expresses a double expansion of perspective, aesthetic and functional. Externally, the bevel softens and acts as a guide, giving the overall dimensions a spatial and architectural value; internally, the angle encloses and supports, favoring a versatile seating style that is well suited to the home environment as well as to use in public spaces. Through five modules, different in terms of extension and depth, and a single connection, it is possible to imagine a multiplicity of combinations, from the simple specular juxtaposition to the most complex geometric sequences. The sign is strong, recognizable in the references to the deconstruction carried out with Lowland (2000) and to the sophisticated design of Redondo (2010) or M.a.s.s.a.s (2012). The term "chamfer" refers to the architectural detail of the "rounded corner". Hence the plan shape of the sofa, which characterizes all the elements of the seating system. Versatile, flexible, sumptuous, these sofas welcome us in a big and elegant embrace. The Chamfer sofa celebrates Moroso's twenty years of collaboration with Patricia Urquiola: "In discussing this anniversary with Patrizia, for the twenty years of collaboration, we decided to work on a simplification of a series of echoes deriving from projects made in the past , for example by linking us to Redondo and other sofas which for us represented a sort of 'cradle', a nest. We lowered, we geometrized, we brought to purer, cleaner lines and this corner came out, this broken edge as the English say, this Chamfer, a word that recurs in architecture wh ere, when we join two lines in a curve, we join them in chamfer. The Modernist collection - despite having roots and references in Modernism - stands out for its ambitious attempt to integrate the figurative component, typical of the works of Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, with the linear rationality of the geometric structure of the rectangle. The result, in terms of formal innovation, is an achievement. The two designers contrast the classicism of the composition, the proper attention to the rendering of surfaces and materials, the accentuation of a few significant details: the central button denies and at the same time reworks the bourgeois charm of the capitonné workmanship, while the base moderates the aesthetics of industrial processing, updated in the choice of colors and in the use of laser-cut steel, folded and welded into a single structure. With Casa modernista - a veiled homage to Gregori Warchavchik, a Russian-Ukrainian architect recognized for his role as promoter of modern architecture in Brazil in the 1920s - the formal precision and objective sobriety present in the first models softens towards a greater openness to relaxation and to spontaneity. The cushions lose their rigor, the seat becomes deeper and more welcoming, the lines relaxed. The sofa, in the change, becomes the transition space between opposing interpretations of time: productive and disconnected, relational and private, temporary and continuous. Casa Modernista completes the basic Modernista project with two sofas modified in size and comfort. Thought for a more residential use, the sofas still maintain the distinctive qualities of the initial project. This new Twibe upholstery collection is characterized by extreme importance and at the same time sartorial details that make it a unique project. The strong point is represented by the tubular steel frame, which emphasizes the volumetric clean lines of the sofa in two places: in the basement frame, following the profile and wrapping all the cushions; and in the armrests where it surrounds the belt. This bearing and decorative use of this tubular steel matches another Twibe detail: the fineness of sewing with increased thickness that follows the line of soft elements, giving the sofa design more character and depth. The solution is realized thanks to the craftsmanship and handicraft that distinguish the company.
